Dr. Asha Mishra was born in 1936 at Berhampur in Ganjam district in a famous family. Her father’s name late Harimohan Rath and mothers name late Parvati Devi. Her father Harimohan Ratha worked at DPI office at Cuttack under Odisha government. Smt. Mishra completed her childhood study with her brother and Sister-in-Law. After passing 5th class then she joined in Revansaw girl’s school at Cuttack for further studies.
Her elder sister Dr. Pratibha Devi,was a reader in Mathematics.Smt. Mishra had accomplished her schooling and college career at cuttack. She completed her Master Degree in Odia from Ravenshaw college Cuttack and B.Ed from Radhanath Training college. Thereafter she started her career in education department, government of Odisha in 1959.
Dr. Mishra was having a great interest in odia literature from childhood days. She was greatly influenced by the environmrnt of her family. She was a active supporter of women education.Her family relationship with Nilakantha Das, Dibakar Pattnaik, Godabarisha Mohapatra encouraged her literary mind. In those times Dr. Mishra received a great honour by writing poetry of prose in aous daily Newspaper” Prajatanra”.
Dr. Mishra was Deputed by Odisha Government in 1971 to study Assemese language & literature. Her husband Dr. Nishamani Mishra was a senior reader in Odia department. Whatever inspiration, & help she got from her husband is second to none. She has got lot of name & fame in her service life by teaching in different college’s Samant Chandrasekhar College, women’s college at Puri, Ravenshaw college situated at cuttack, Sailabala Mahila College, Bjb college and she retired in 1994 from Ramadevi mahila College.
